Day 8: The rains continue so we are seeing more children and adults with cold and fever. Seems to go hand and hand with the season! Today some of the team worked with the preschool classes Doing crafts. Linda and I did a blood pressure and eye clinic with the staff of the orphanage. After lunch we will hold some PE classes with the older kids (providing the rain lets up enough) otherwise we will be muddy messes! ;)
Today we had American Lunch... Grilled cheese ( small comforts of home) After lunch we had PE classes with k-5 and we were exhausted!! They had a blast;) We then played an Indian game called Kubadee - a game of Indian tag. The rains then came again and we were inside quickly!! Tomorrow we hit the markets! Good nite for now! Day 3: Today was a day filled with church and youth group events! We began at 10 with hours of singing and then time with the younger classes. The words of the day from the team were... joy, inspiring, hope, overwhelming (in a good way) spirit- filled, overcome, peaceful. It was a day where God was felt everywhere and even though we didn't understand a lot of the message and songs because of the language barrier the God we lift our prayers and thoughts and praises to is the same God! Day 4: Today we taught nutrition class, HIV class and reproductive classes with the 9th and 10th grade classes. They all had such great questions. We then held first aid clinics for about 400 children, while Abby and Katie played limbo jump rope volley ball and many other games with the children! A very full day! Day 1: our 18 hour worth of flights spanned from leaving Dulles at 11am on July 4 to arriving in Hyderabad India at 8pm on July 5. Cleared customs and immigration with no issues and all 16 bags of luggage arrived!! We got to our home base at around midnight and settled into what will b our home for the next 10 days!
Day 2: banana pancakes and honey for breakfast and thank The Lord for coffee :). We began our day with a class of basic first aid for the school teachers ( about 20 men and women) We then treated about 150 young boys and girls over the span of 4 hours. Broke for lunch and then back to the clinics. We all then took refreshing cold bucket showers and will participate in youth bible study this evening before a late dinner. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! Melissa and The Team |
