Today was a travel day as we made our way to Livingstone, bringing the mission part of our journey to a close. While there was a hint of sadness in saying goodbye to that chapter, we also felt a deep sense of job well done. Now, we’re looking forward to some much-needed time to relax—a safari adventure, a sunset cruise, and a chance to soak in the beauty of God’s creation before the long journey home.

As we settled into our rooms near Victoria Falls, we were greeted by the incredible sight of zebras, monkeys, and even giraffes wandering freely across the grounds—reminders of the wild and wonderful world we’re in.

There’s a rhythm to travel days: hurry up and wait, then move again. But with each leg, we’re getting closer to home, hearts full and grateful for every moment under the African sun.

From the moment we began the game drive, we were in awe. We spotted impalas, kudus, and several lions—some uncomfortably close! We watched hippos basking in the mud, water buffalo grazing, and an incredible variety of beautiful birds. Elephants and giraffes were everywhere, moving with such calm majesty. We also saw guinea fowl scurrying about and playful monkeys in the trees. It was truly humbling to see all these animals thriving in their natural habitat.

Lunch was a treat at a lovely resort—fabulous food in a breathtaking setting. After a quick freshen-up back at the hotel, we set off for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. And what a sunset it was—a masterpiece in the sky, as if God Himself painted it just for us.

What an unforgettable day. We’re filled with awe, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for the wild beauty of Africa. 🌍

Today was packed full of meaningful encounters—meeting new people and reuniting with old friends.

We left Lifesong Guest House around 9 AM after a delicious breakfast and coffee. Our first stop was the business headquarters of Lifesong, where we were warmly welcomed and then escorted to one of their main schools, home to around 700 students. These children come from surrounding areas and have been identified as some of the most vulnerable in the region.

One of the most inspiring things we learned was that all staff members are required to be Christian, and their core values are rooted in teaching children how to build a personal relationship with Jesus while receiving an excellent education or vocational training. Some children live on campus due to being orphaned or because of unstable home environments.

Our team split up to serve in various ways—some helped serve lunch to students and staff, while others assisted at the on-campus health clinic. It was incredibly rewarding to witness the faithfulness and selflessness of the Lifesong staff, who truly embody being the hands, feet, and heart of God. Their commitment to excellence in both care and education was deeply moving. Before leaving, we were able to bless them in return by donating a much-needed box of medications, malaria test kits, and rehydration packets.

Children at Chilabula Farm
Next, we drove to Chilabula Village to visit Leonard’s farm. Leonard oversees a large area where he raises pigs, chickens, goats, and a variety of crops. What’s even more remarkable is his ministry—he hosts a group of young adults who live in dorms on the property. These young people are growing in their knowledge of Jesus and learning how to share the Gospel through music, sign language, and leading Christian camps for children.

We brought gifts for the children, including pillowcase dresses, t-shirts, “shoes that grow,” toys, and over 100 school backpacks filled with supplies. The children responded with songs, laughter, and radiant smiles that filled our hearts with joy.

Throughout the day, we were continually inspired by the hospitality we received and the growth we witnessed—both spiritually and practically. From the warm welcome to the powerful communication of love through acts of service and worship, we left each place feeling blessed and inspired.

As we said farewell, there was a strong sense that this day was not just about giving—it was about mutual encouragement, shared faith, and seeing how God is at work in extraordinary ways in Zambia.

Today, Team Africa traveled to Mpongwe Mission Hospital, a place that holds a special place in our hearts. When we first visited in 2024, the hospital had just opened as a teaching facility and shared with us a bold dream: to launch a NICU and provide care for the most vulnerable newborns in the region.

Now, just a year later, we returned—and were welcomed with open arms by district health officials, doctors, midwives, nurses, and hospital staff. The room was filled with enthusiasm, mutual respect, and joy as we celebrated a beautiful example of partnership and a promise kept.

They were deeply encouraged by our return and our accountability to the goals we discussed a year ago. And we were filled with joy and pride to see the incredible progress they’ve made in developing their NICU—with limited resources but tremendous heart, faith, and integrity.

Thanks to the great timing of donations received throughout the year, we were able to deliver a suitcase full of critical neonatal equipment, including:
• NG tubes and feeding systems
• Pulse oximeters
• Vein finders
• Laryngeal masks
• Lancets for heel pricks
• Bulb syringes
• Ambu bags
• IV kits

We didn’t just deliver supplies—we equipped. Through collaborations and hands-on training, we ran several skills stations to ensure the tools would be used effectively. There was a spirit of teamwork and shared purpose as we practiced side-by-side with their staff, strengthening the bond between our teams.

During the NICU tour, we had the honor of meeting some of the Tiny People receiving care. While we were there, a premature baby was discovered to be in distress. With perfect timing and a calm, capable response, Linda, Jen, and Olivia partnered with the NICU team to stabilize the infant—using some of the very tools we had provided that same day. It was a powerful reminder of how integrity, great timing, and preparation can literally save lives.

Of course, no trip to Zambia is complete without a few itchy moments— Amanda confirmed the spiders and mosquitoes were alive and well today!

We returned to LifeSong Lodge for our final night and were served an unexpected but welcome treat: Southern Fried Chicken—an American classic! A heartfelt thank-you to the LifeSong staff for their hospitality, hard work, and the many ways they made us feel at home.

This day was a beautiful display of collaboration, accountability, and promise fulfilled. As we prepare to wrap up our journey, we carry with us the faces, stories, and the overwhelming sense that God’s work is being done through ordinary people with extraordinary love.

One more day to go for Team Africa—and we are filled with gratitude, pride, and purpose.

Today was a full day — as usual! Somehow, we always manage to pack so much into a single day, it feels as though God blesses us with more than just 24 hours.

Our day began with a visit to Lifesong Farm and the business offices, where we met Dennis and Teddy, the heartbeat of the business side of Lifesong school, orphanage, and farm. They were so welcoming, and as they shared their hearts, we could clearly sense a shared vision rooted in faith, purpose, and a desire to impact lives. Dennis spoke passionately about the vision for expansion and how our group’s experience could play a powerful role in the development of clinics and hospitals — it was a deeply meaningful conversation that stirred excitement for future collaboration.

Afterwards, Emmanuel gave us an incredible tour of the farm, offering detailed insight into how they raise berries and other fruits. They truly farm God’s way, and it’s evident they are blessed for it. As a beautiful act of generosity, Emmanuel gifted our team 12 boxes of strawberries — what a heartfelt surprise!

Although we had originally planned to run a mobile clinic at Lifesong, they hadn’t had enough prep time to gather the school children. So, we adjusted and headed out to the Kafubu block community and orphan school — a longer journey, but so worth it. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with hugs, laughter, and pure joy. The children’s excitement was contagious, and we immediately felt the energy shift — it was fun, unfiltered, and genuine.

We ran a clinic for the families, children, and staff, serving with love and compassion. Afterward, we jumped into games of tag and football, and spent time simply being present with the kids — moments that were as joyful as they were heartfelt.

We wrapped up the day back at the Lifesong guest house with a delicious meal and some much-needed rest — all accompanied, of course, by some delicious coffee.

Days like these are a beautiful reminder of why we’re here — motivated by love, purpose, and a call to serve.

A Day Full of Joy, Fellowship, and Fresh Perspective

Today, we had the absolute honor of visiting Liberty Baptist Church, and from the moment we stepped onto the property, we were met with open arms and cheerful hearts. We instantly felt welcomed, appreciated, and united in spirit with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The worship was truly a glimpse into heaven — voices lifted in praise, hearts aligned in joy. Christine and Melissa offered their incredible gift of singing, and the room was filled with a sweet spirit of rejoicing. It was impossible not to feel the presence of God as we lifted His name together. The message shared was inspiring and deeply rooted in truth — a call to continually look to the One true God with bold faith and surrendered hearts.

While we were worshiping, a group of dedicated women were behind the scenes preparing a special blessing for us — an authentic African meal, made with love and care. There’s something so beautiful about being served by hands that serve with joy and purpose.

Later, Melissa gathered with the women of the church and shared a message about bold prayer. She spoke about the courageous women of the Bible — women chosen and called by God for kingdom purpose. It was a moment of enlightenment, offering a fresh perspective on how God uses each of us uniquely and powerfully when we surrender to His call.

Meanwhile, Linda, alongside Jen, Heather, Christine, and Olivia, set up a health station, offering blood pressure screenings. Ann and Hannah led an eye clinic, sharing both knowledge and care with so much compassion. Amanda served wholeheartedly wherever there was a need — truly embodying the heart of a servant.
Then came the meal — and what a meal it was! We were treated to what many of us agreed was the best meal we’ve had. Delicious chicken, savory African greens, and nshima with rich chicken gravy. We even embraced the full experience and ate with our hands — and yes, it was as joyful and fun as it sounds! 😊

As the day came to a close, we said our goodbyes to our new friends, feeling both honored and humbled by the love and hospitality we received. Back at Lifesong Guest House, we shared dinner and spent time reflecting on the day — each of us filled with joy and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve, to be served, and to walk in fellowship with others who love God.

Our hearts are full. We rejoice in the connections made today, in the lessons learned, and in the unshakable truth that God is moving — through every song, every prayer, every plate of food, every act of service. To God be the glory!

Travel Journal Entry – A Day of Transition

Today was mostly a travel day, full of movement and mixed emotions as we transitioned to the final leg of our mission. We left Kasama early and made our way to Mansa, where we caught a flight to Ndola. From there, we journeyed by road in what we affectionately call the encounter “wagon”, bound for the Lifesong Guest House and coffee shop — our home for the next few days.

Along the way, we said farewell to our faithful drivers — who had become so much more than just drivers. Through long hours on the road, shared laughs, and unexpected delays, they became part of our team, part of our story. Their presence will be missed.

Picture
Our visit to a local market was a jolt to the senses — overstimulated is an understatement. The busy stalls were bursting with color, filled with countless voices, scents, and faces. It was a beautiful chaos, and a vivid glimpse into the heart of local life.
Picture
Now, we are weary from traveling, but also satisfied — knowing that every step we’ve taken has been purposeful. There’s a sense of anticipation in the air as we prepare to regroup, wash clothes, and rest before stepping into the final few days of mission work.

On the bus today, even in our tiredness, we found joy — singing praise songs, some happy, some reflective. There’s something powerful about worship on the road, surrounded by team members who now feel like family.

Each moment draws us closer to coming home, but not before we finish what we came here to do. Tomorrow holds more stories, more encounters, and the promise of continued impact.

Tonight, we are reunited under one roof, resting, reflecting, and ready.

caring for orphans....and a new hospital!!!

Today, Team Africa 2025 journeyed to our next teaching location in Mpika. Along the way, we were deeply blessed by a stop at a local orphanage caring for children ages 5 to 18. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hugs, radiant smiles, and singing songs of worship that touched our hearts. The children shared original poetry that brought tears to our eyes—truly a joyful moment celebrating the love of God.

Our very own Uncle Grandpa Leonard led the entire group in some good old fashioned fun—games that echoed with laughter and built bonds across generations. After joining the children in joyful camaraderie, we sang Bible story songs and passed around a bag of DumDums. In return, we were able to bless the children with suitcases full of toys, games, school supplies, and basic medical essentials. The room overflowed with love, singing, and the warmth of echoing laughter.
From there, we made our way to Chinsali General Hospital, a new and growing medical facility in the Muchinga Province. We were welcomed with great hospitality by the Medical Superintendent and toured their NICU, pediatric wards, obstetrics, and dialysis units. One of the highlights was seeing our dear friend Chichi, who had attended yesterday’s Helping Babies Breathe training. She graciously walked us through the NICU and introduced us to their Tiny People who are receiving life-saving care.

The day ended with us settling in at our next lodging, where the Northern Rock Lodge Staff welcomed us with a delicious meal. As we gathered together, reflecting on the day, we were filled with a sense of gratitude for love, enlightenment, connection, and joy of God that we experienced in every conversation, every smile, and every moment of shared purpose.

Trusting god and sharing hearts

Today began with a powerful lesson in faith and trust. It was a beautiful reminder that God is truly in control and His timing is perfect! Our teaching supply suitcases, which had been sent ahead, failed to arrive when we had hoped. But God showed up—right on time. The suitcases arrived just as our class was about to begin! This moment not only built our trust in Him, but also deepened our sense of teamwork and togetherness. We were overwhelmed with gratitude, reminded once again that God is our provider.

Throughout the day, our team shared both knowledge and experience, while also gaining valuable insight from the midwives, third-year nursing students, and doctors we worked alongside. It was a full and enlightening day—sometimes heavy with the sheer amount of information we needed to cover—but full of purpose and passion.

There was also plenty of fun along the way! Jen and Heather had quite the “Hubbly Bubbly” group, keeping things lively and engaging.
Later, we visited a very resource-limited clinic—an experience that moved many of us to tears. The staff there are doing an extraordinary amount with so little. Their dedication and resilience left a deep impact on our hearts and reminded us of the true meaning of service.

Though we were tired by the end of the day, our hearts were full as we visited some of the most precious little ones—the tiny lives that are the very heart of why Tiny People Matter was started. The team was able to bless the children with a suitcase packed full of toys, clothes, and hygiene items, and we were also able to purchase much-needed supplies. Thanks to the generous donations from friends in the U.S., we provided infant formula, diapers, and essential supplies to help keep the orphanage running.

It was an amazing and humbling end to the day—full of joy, purpose, and gratitude

On the move.....Zambia 2025

Today was an incredible day, both long and full of meaning. Our journey began with another leg of travel, this time to reach NICU nurses, midwives, and nursing students in Zambia’s newest province, Muchinga. After a short Proflight, we set out on a 5 ½ hour drive that carried us deep into the countryside.
Upon our arrival in Chinsali, we were warmly welcomed by the District Health Director and the Deputy Permanent Secretary. We spoke about the mission of Tiny People Matter and why we devote ourselves to mothers and the smallest, most fragile lives. The leaders suggested the possibility of an exchange program, a chance for Zambian health professionals to train in the U.S. and bring back evidence-based practices to strengthen care here at home. The thought of this cross-cultural collaboration was exciting!
Picture
As the evening stretched on, we turned our focus to preparation. Tomorrow marks the start of our teaching sessions, and so we organized the conference room, reviewed the details of our content, and ensured that we were ready to welcome the large crowd expected to attend. We ended our day with an incredible meal lovingly prepared by Persilla. Around the table, laughter mingled with gratitude before we tucked into our mosquito nets for much-needed rest. Before we closed, each member of our team was asked to choose a word to capture the heart of the day. The words themselves painted a vivid portrait of our shared journey:
* Answered prayer
* Mindfulness
* Unbelievable
* Obedience
* Joyful
* Wonder
* Safe
* Shaken not stirred
* Planes, ferries, and automobiles
* Focused
Once again God showed up in amazing ways ! His timing is always perfect and He never fails to help the impossible to be. possible !!

Over the last few days, the TPM Africa 2025 team traveled to Zambia. After three long flights and nearly 36 hours of travel, we were finally reunited with our friends here. The journey itself had already proven the value of trusting the process. Our first real day in Zambia was slower in pace but rich in meaning.
Picture
We spent the morning planning for the education sessions we’ll be leading in the days ahead, and it was exciting to see ideas start taking shape as we worked together. Beyond the planning, this was also a day for bonding as a team. We laughed, shared stories, explored the community, and found ourselves growing closer in ways that will no doubt make us stronger for the work ahead.
Picture
In the evening, we gathered as a team for reflection, something we’ve committed to making part of each day. Each member was asked to choose one word to capture our  experience so far. The words chosen painted such a vivid picture of our collective journey:
